Fuel System Advice Needed!

Help! I am looking for some advice from you gurus out there. I promise I have searched this site and a few others but can't seem to find an exact answer as many threads get so caught up in which fittings are what and so on.

I am trying to figure out my fuel system plumbing/routing.

I have an F-Body tank with a fuel pressure regulator in the tank assembly. The motor is a 2002 5.3 Truck motor that is completely stock. This engine fuel setup is with a regulator on the rail and a return line.

I understand I cant run two regulators.

Is my best option to swap the fuel rail out in favor for the newer truck OEM return-less fuel rail and then run a corvette filter setup?

I have two friends that know quite a bit about ls swaps and they both have differing opinions.

Please help me. Thank you in advance!

On mine I used a pushlock to -an fitting on the return rail barb and then put a -an cap on it..easy peasy..btw the corvette filter has a regulatory built into it.

Re: Fuel System Advice Needed!

What f body tank do you have? Early ones were for return type systems where as LS1 tanks have the regulator built into them. I believe that the later 98-02 6 cylinder cars used a return, but dont quote me on that. But if you have an LS1 pump, there is a line coming out of the tank that T's off a little ways out side of the tank and one line goes to the rail and the other goes back to the tank. You won't need a corvette filter/regulator with that pump, but I would recommend switching to a factory returnless rail if you do so.

Yes, I have the LS1 fuel pump assembly with the fuel pressure regulator in the tank.

So basically you are saying get a returnless fuel rail on the motor with this pump set up correct? If that is the case how should I run the lines?

Re: Fuel System Advice Needed!

You can swap the rail or cap the return..works either way..I haven't used a pump setup like yours..I've always used stock tank with external walbro and the vette filter/reg and the vette reg dumps back into the tank..
