Ignition Switch Grounds
I'm putting in a push button ignition/start setup in my 73 K5 and am trying to figure out what to do with the 2 grounds that go into the original ignition switch. My new switch setup doesn't have grounds so I wasn't sure what the purpose of those was...

Re: Ignition Switch Grounds
By the way, here's a picture of my switch schematic. Any feedback would be helpful. I was also wondering where I need to tie the fuse block power in to this. Other than the 2 grounds, this the only wire unaccounted for...

Re: Ignition Switch Grounds
I haven't had to take a column apart that far yet but member Gregski detailed how the switch works when he replaced his in his build thread "Restoring Rusty": LINK Lots of pics there too showing how it works.

Re: Ignition Switch Grounds
Thanks, I used his build a bit for reference. After digging around a bit under the dash it looks like someone has some some surgery and I'm missing some wires here and there. I was able to make it all work though (except for the cluster light s but that's probably just a fuse). I ended up just going with switches for acc and run plus push button to start. Seems to work well enough... I've kept the harness intact though incase I ever want to fix the actuator rod and use the ignition switch in the future.
