Engine mount questions

I have a 68 GMC with no engine. It previously had a V8 but I want to put a straight 6 in it. According to my tape measure the engine mount brackets that are in it look like they're in the correct location for a 250. Is it correct that a 250 I6 will mount to the same brackets as a V8? If I choose to use a 292, do I drill new holes in the frame on the passenger side to move that bracket forward 4" or does it require a different bracket? Haven't done this before so I'll appreciate any help.

Someone could have installed a V8 on your 6 banger mounts, but the V8 mounts move motor closer to the radiator. Most likely the 6 cylinder will NOT fit using the V8 mounts, but it does work the other way around.

According to the VIN it was originally a straight 6 truck. I have about 24" between the center of the mounts and the radiator. I'll measure the engine to make sure it'll fit but I believe it will. I guess I'll need to drill new holes for the passenger side and move it 4" forward for the 292. Thanks for the info.
