I need to order a driveshaft

For an LS/4L80e install. Has anyone found a "junkyard" aluminum shaft that will work? I think late 90's to early 2000's Chevy trucks used a fat aluminum driveshaft. I thought about buying one and having it cut/balanced.

I looked at Denny's Driveshafts but I cannot afford one.

Re: I need to order a driveshaft

I had the doner shaft from a 2003 Z71 extended cab short box cut down a little to work with my swap in the suburban. .The problem is when i jacked up the burb at droop the shaft just touched the yrailing arm crossmember. Depends on what year your building that might work for you

If you are thinking of having one cut down, check out Scotty's Driveshaft here in Austin. They should be able to handle it, I would think. You may want to double check that they can handle aluminum though.

You may want to check with Driveshaft Specialists down in San Antonio for the price on a new one. They are pretty reasonable.

Re: I need to order a driveshaft

Dynotech (formerly "Balance Engineering") has been around and has been used by GM for their experimental builds for a very long time.
