New rear end
I acquired a 96 s10 4x4 rear end to upgrade my '51 3600. I don't have the spring plates from the vehicle. The rear axle diameter is 2.625". Outside of finding oem plates, any suggestions are welcome.

I'm only finding 1-3/4 wide perches that are for 3 inch axles.

If the local steel yards don't have the right size this online outfit sells short pieces. try a trailer place, they sell spring perches for different sizes of axle tubes. better to get one a little small and make it fit if you can't get an exact fit. if you want new and can't find a set try welders series online.
just as a side note, be careful welding on the perches because too long of a weld time in one spot will possibly warp the axle tube. let it cool between welds and possibly alternate welding on the other perch. another side note, when welding make sure not to put the ground on the live axle part because the current going through the bearings can cause little arcs which become craters after a short time of driving. since the axle is a bearing surface it would mean new axles. |

Had to jar the brain a bit but I bought a pair of these to use with a 55 3100 axle under my boat tail roadster with Chevy 1-3/4 wide springs a while back. Nice units and not spendy.

just google "axle spring seats" and see what comes up. gotta be something out there, from etrailer or something, that you could make work. is there a commercial trailer repair place near you? if so, give them a call, they may be able to help you out

Some of those trailer ones are seriously short in length though and the right width may be hard to find.
I looked at some at my neighbor's machine shop before I ordered the ones I got.

Did I miss something..I thought he was asking about the spring plate..not perches..spring plates look as such..is this what you need or the part (spring perch) that welds to the axle?

Spring perch looks like this..speedway motors carries this..they carry spring plates as well

Sorry guys, I stopped receiving notifications. I called gentleman who I bought the axle from and he had the original plates. 10 dollars lighter I'm in business. I'm not to worried about the perches.
