how far back should my rear seat sit

In my 72 blazer I think the person who owned b4 me mounted the seat way to far back. Behind the seat there is only about enough room for the spare tire. Mass leg room in front of the seat, maybe the guy had tall passengers lol. I need to pull the carpet anyways but just curious if anyone had an idea if this is the wrong location?

There should be some re-inforced mounting points in the bed of the Blazer. Don't know where you are in Washington State, but your more than welcome to come by and take a look at mine.

In the mean time, here is a photo of the mounting points (not my truck). The seat should sit just about dead center between the wheel wells.

I moved mine forward 2"inchs to allow a Tuff box to sit behind it, still have all kinds of room...
