Goodmark vs no name metal?
I ordered a bunch of stuff from a site, (2 doors, 2 fenders and hood) ADVERTISED as goodmark stuff. It all showed up, looked good but the boxes are not goodmark boxes, one says triplus on it. I dont think there is a name on some boxes...
I threw the doors on, they fit ok, nothing I can work a bit to fit. Put the fenders and hood on, the gaps between the hood and fenders are 3/4 wide... Somethings not right... Ive dealt with hundreds of aftermarket parts and nothing this bad! All of my rusty old gm stuff fit fine! Non wrecked stuff This is a 55 second series... Thoughts, comments? Edit, none of the part numbers on the boxes match the goodmark parts on the website.... Last edited by Dave0; 09-23-2016 at 07:54 PM. |

post the part numbers
Most distributor buy from other distributor to round out item lines they don't make or have an exclusive on |

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
They are all Key Parts Numbers. for any number of reason they may have had Key fulfill the order.
What does the shipping BOL say for origin address? Lynchburg VA is Key parts |

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
Goodmark doesn't make anything. They sell stuff. Almost all Asian sheetmetal comes from the same maker.

From what I've read, Triplus is one of the better manufactures of reproduction metal. Triplus is the actual manufacturer in Taiwan. Sometimes you'll see stuff come in their boxes. Other times, the items get repackaged.

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
I bought goodmark floor pan halves on closeout from rockauto and I think they were triplus. the right floor fit perfectly, the left fit like poo.

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
hey guys
just my 02 cents worth again -------i find it quite disturbing that we ( the U.S of A.) cannot or will not make good quality parts ...mind you that there are v v few companies that have decent parts but imo there are not enough ppl that want to do it . i am sure it s alot cheaper to have it done overseas.......but the quality is not very good as stated above . i know its all we have to work with and there are very many skilled guys who can fix theses problem fenders - doors - hoods ....but for the guy who has saved a lot of $$ for hopefully quality parts and ends up with non fitting parts is sad . ---- there just seems to be more trouble parts than good .......not all !!!!!! just some ...... just sayin . good luck with getting things to fit p.s i have had the same problems with my 57 as far as fitment----its just agrivating . |

it's hard to compete with labor that gets as much per day as we get per hour figure a taiwan fender that costs $250 vs a usa fender that would probably cost $1200 maybe more if the uaw (United Against Work) got involved, but don't get me started there since i pay myself a lot less than the taiwan worker, i can do a lot of modification to make the taiwan fender fit we are lucky the taiwan people repop our parts, that has only happened in the past 15 yrs new parts come available every yr, it is only recently that the 58-9 fenders are being repopped

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
My biggest complaint of these parts, while they are made of the same gauge metal. You can push a dent or wave in them with very little effort... It has NO strength....

Re: Goodmark vs no name metal?
I have always been told and find it true that the quality of metal/iron that other countries have available to them does not have as good of alloy to it, now i know that you can add to the mix when creating steel but as said above the cost out wieghs the return. i have installed countless repop pieces of sheetmetal and its always a coin toss, some fit very well with little to no modification others well lests just say it looked like a fender or quarter but thats all it had going for it. its always frustrating that when you buy repop you could still be in for as much work as trying to repair or find oem metal. And i can tell you it does not matter who you buy from or how much you pay its always the same result. who ever said it all comes from the same plant could very well have nailed it.
