recommended drop
A lot of folks say they have a 4/6 drop or 3/5 drop, but almost nobody posts if that is with a 2.5" spindle drop and 1.5" spring drop or 1" spring drop. I am looking to drop the ride with spindles 2.5" and then a little further with springs.
I want to drop the truck with the spindles 2.5" and another 1" or so with springs, 5" drop in the rear, while riding on big wide 18 or 19" rims. I added a photo of the truck but it seems like they torched the springs before me and I have no idea ride-height wise where I am at now. I want an auto-x handling ride for my city/country driving yet can still haul a payload for those projects. Thanks in advance from the good old SF |

A lot has to do with where you live and where you drive.
A 4/6 is a nice compromise but if your town has craters in the roads or sharp entrances to businesses or homes then maybe a 3/5 would do you better. I have about a 4/5 with drop spindles and 1.5" drop springs in front, air bags in rear no "c" notch

With your goals of better handling and a 3/5 drop with those size of wheels I would purchase 3" lowering spindles and a 1 1/4" sway-bar. Out back with those wheels I would do a 2" lowering block with a 3" spring and top it off with a ECE or CPP long panhard rod! Follow it all up with a set of nice shocks and it should pretty good!

OP, I just sent you a PM. I think some of the components from the new Ridetech StreetGrip kit will work WELL for what you want.
With a true DUAL RATE COIL and their HQ - Single Adjustable Billet shocks, you will get an incredible crusing ride quality and in the corners, the coils tighten up to prevent lean and make the truck FUN to drive. MCB

Thanks for the response guys. I finally realized I'd be hauling more than racing so I didn't want to slam the ride too much.
I ended up going with: Front: 2.5" drop spindles 2" lowering springs belltech shocks Rear: 4" lowering springs djm shocks with relocator brackets The spindles were part of a disc brake conversion kit, so I definitely have some work cut out over the next month. I imagine when this is all installed I will go with some anti-swaybars and bigger/wider rims. |

looks good, don't forget an adjustable Panhard rod. When you lower the rear of these trucks the stock panhard rod pulls the rear off to one side and usually lifts the drivers side of the bed. You can get an adjustable length panhard in both short (replaces factory) or long length (runs across to the opposite axle sadle). The long bar provides a smoother ride and less side to side movement of the axle during articulation.

x2 on the longer panhard bar. I think it made a big difference when I swapped mine over from a stock length. Plus, if you ever do decide to go lower the longer bar will work better because the side to side movement is much less than a stock length bar would be.
