66 C10 rear wheel track narrower than that of the front
Hey guys, I was looking at my wifes C10 the other day and thought to myself, man those rear wheels look more narrow than they should. So I got out the old tape measurer and sure enough, the rear wheel track is 4 inches narrower than the front. Which seems pretty crazy different. As far as I can tell the rear end is stock, the wheels are original or original reproductions but some crazy aftermarket wherls or anything. The wheel specs are the same front to back, so why is the rear so much narrower than the front?

Re: 66 C10 rear wheel track narrower than that of the front
That's the way it is.
The rear track width has always been narrower than the front track width. Add a disc brake conversion, drop spindles or even drop coil springs, and it becomes even more noticeable.. That's why many people run a wider wheel on the rear,... to help hide this issues. Running different backspaces wheels also helps. You'd be surprised how many people don't notice the difference.

The same was true on my '72 Blazer -- I never noticed it until I was loading it onto a trailer. The front tires barely squeeked on, and the rears had lots of room.
