Spring Confusion
Hey folks,
With all the talk of springs lately, I figured I would check on mine. Little back history - my truck is a 1985 k2500. It has the C6P heavy duty chassis RPO. I was counting the rear leaves, and found it has 7 leaves with the overload (8 leaves then?). I can't find any reference to these springs. So, just curious, can anybody give me a little insight as to load ratings for these springs? I was thinking of replacing them with a heavier set, but wanted to know what I have first. Thanks for the help in advance! Nick |

Re: Spring Confusion
I found this was the best organized site for springs and bought mine here for my 87 v2500 (3/4 ton 4x4) I went with the 2600 rears and 3 leaf front. My stock fronts were 2 leaf and my stock rears were rated 2350 I think.
The truck lifted 1-2 inches as can be seen here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=6305428 http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_...987_s/1829.htm |

Re: Spring Confusion
Thanks, I found that site, and was confused at the spring rating, since mine is supposed to be a heavy duty, and the site shows the capacity for my springs as only 1950 pounds.
Nice truck by the way! |

Re: Spring Confusion
The ones listed as 1950 are for a 2 wheel drive truck, yours is a K2500 so 4x4 correct?

Re: Spring Confusion
Go to the
gmheritagecenter.com Website and download the specs for your truck. I looked at an 1986 k2500 and the rears were rated at 2000 each. On my truck the sticker in the glove box had a code for HD springs. You may be able to look that up too. |
