Goes to show, you never know. Mine fit perfect, bolted right up, no modifications.

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
Mmmm, wonder if they sent wrong brackets, had to shorten them 1&3/4" to get the bumper forward, cutting , bending , welding. Would you mind PM ing your vender to me?

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
They didn't send you panel brackets for a pickup or pickup brackets for a panel?
I'm not sure that the bolt holes to bolt the bumper to the brackets even line up on the opposite one but someone could have reached in the wrong bin.

No they are bumper brackets but maybe for a step bumper I'm thinking, all day getting the bumper centered and in tight, today the diagonal braces have to be reworked

Is there a sticky for listing repro parts that don't work or need major modifications?

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
I agree with vintovka. Not to bash suppliers, but folks let's face it...we are spending our hard earned money on these parts, and if they don't fit, what good are they to the average person? I will be starting work on a 51 I have owned for a couple of months. I have the tools and skill to do major fabrication work. However, I can't speak for everyone and I would rather spend fabrication time where it's needed, not where I have already spent money on new replacement parts.

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
Supplier mistakes happen, ordered 1 right and 1 left lower hinge pockets for my 57, got 2 lefts, called after some conversation the guy went back to the bins where the hinges pockets were, yep both bins had left sides in them, stocker problem or mislable problem i dont know, no problem found some rights and shipped me out one with prepaid label for the return. Crap happens

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
I am at the end of a big (30k) restoration of which 25% is tied up in new parts. So far seen more than a number of parts problems from various vendors. Seems like all the vendors get many parts from same source.
I worked in a auto parts place and can certainly understand "picking" mistakes but manufacturers making poor copies and passing them off as first quality goods is wrong to point of fraud. I am dealing with another pretty bad situation but will allow time for vendor to make a correction. The lures of big discounts do not make up for the cost (sometime huge) of shipping stuff back. The ploy of making returns difficult should also be cndiered before you buy. Since ther seems no quality control oversight on repop manufactures so its up to us consumers to spread the word. |

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
Had to go back and look to see that you have a 59 truck.
Looking on the LMC site there is a difference between the fleetside bumper and brackets. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=64 And the stepside bumper and brackets. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=65 You didn't happen to get the brackets for the wrong application or hit the "one size fits all" page of someone's site?

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
Maybe my tolerance for fit was more than yours. I plan a roll pan in the future so this was ok for me.

Re: New chrome rear bumper & brackets Ha
Looking at this one that I borrowed off the net (not my photo) it looks like you pretty well nailed it.
