Putting 1950 Hood Half's back together

Before we painted the hood I drilled out all of the rivets to separate the hood half's and now I need to put them back together.

For those that have gone through this did you go back with rivets or did you bolt them together? This is a restorod so originality is not important.

Thanks,

Re: Putting 1950 Hood Half's back together

I'd think that might better than trying to use pop rivets in the long run. I'd use bolts that were just long enough to leave a couple of threads exposed rather than a lot of thread showing though.

That's being really hard core when you drill the rivets out and pull the halves apart, most of us wouldn't go that far. I'm expecting this to end up being a super nice truck.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

That really came out nice. That is one super sanitary truck.

I'd say there is a lesson to be learned there too, you don't have to bolt on a bunch of junk to have a nice truck.

super clean truck! gorgeous work. I have a thing for red trucks, and all I ever find is green trucks.
