Determining value of 1978 GMC Royal Sierra
I've got a 1978 GMC Royal Sierra that I'm trying to determine what its value is for insurance purposes. Anybody have a suggestion as to how best to determine it?

most insurance companies would require a certified auto appraiser to do the valuation to cover it.

I've owned a dozen classic cars over the past twenty years, each one insured. I've never been required to have one appraised. Hagerty Insurance will allow you to state your value, and if its within reason they will accept it. I've never had them second guess my stated value. |

I agree on the insurance thing. Lots of pictures usually help determine value. Hagerty didn't require me to have my car appraised when I insured it in January. Just clear pics like this and an agreed value they obviously thought was fair. To put a value on your truck we will definitely need pics of the outside, inside , etc. The picture below is just a camera phone pic but hagerty accepted it just fine.

Yes sir .I was looking for a 71 but found this one. I drove all over loking at them. North Texas , Oklahoma , Louisiana and everywhere in between. Then this one pops up an hour away. Oh well.

Like others who have replied. You can also insure it for "stated value" that's an agreed amount that the insurance will accept. Many will take this type of insurance. So it also depends on what you want to insure it for in case of a total loss as in theft or damage.
