1968 3/4t Overloads. - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 68 C20 with coil spring rear suspension. It HAD overloads on it and want to get some back on it.
It also got modified to dual exhaust all the way out behind the rear wheels. The panhard rod mount on the axle comes up, mashes the pipe shut and is giving me grief.
Does anyone have a good picture of the overloads? I have a post running in the parts board and a couple of responses have asked if it is a single leaf and if a 70-71 will fit. I don't know what to say, I've never seen one.

Are the overload springs the same on a 3/4 ton as a 1/2 ton? I just pulled off the overload springs on my '68 C10. I don't have any good pics, but you can kinda see them in this pic:

P.S. A disc would only have one edge...

I have the overload springs in my truck. I got them from a wrecking yard and they are single leaf and came off a 3/4 ton electric company truck. The 70 or the 71 should fit your truck.

I have the original single leaf overload springs, frame brackets, axle pads, and all of the mounting hardware off of my 72 C-20.

Rust free. Will sell everything for 160.00.

i had the same panhard/exhaust issue on my 67 c20. replacing the 35 year old rear coils with a new heavy duty progressive set made a HUGE difference. i installed the overloads at the same time but probably don't need them. had her loaded with kansas limestone last week and she never squated enough to hit the overloads.

Thanks for the replies.
I am hoping to and am confident I can find my parts (for this venture) locally.
Shipping somethin' so heavy would be to expensive.
My next move will be to unload Ol' Joe and get 'im down to my pipes guy to get the exhaust out of harms way and to make room for the over loads.
I do also want to change the coils to hds all the way around, can't do just the fronts. I am affraid of what else I'll find needs replacing while doing them though.
Joe's a beast of burden, well loved and cared for, just not pampered.

True Darcane, a disc only has one edge, but it does have two sides. That's the point of my metaphorical signature, there's a consequence or "equal and oposite reaction" for every action. So choose your actions and words carefully before haste harms.

Finally got the truck to my pipes guy, shorter and loader, but now clear of trouble. Sweet.

The overloads are the (relatively) thick bent steel pieces that hit the rubber bumpers when the truck is, well... overloaded, yeah? That's not a standard issue piece? My truck's got 'em and I figured they were standard equipment thanks to the coil spring rear suspension.
