LS Swap front wiring / junction block
I am in the final stages of my LS Swap on my 70 C10. I will like to do some sort of upgrade and use a junction block. I am looking for ideas and pics as I am more of a see and do kind of guy. I have visited mad electrical site and read their articles but still will like to see how it can be upgraded.
any help is appreciated. |

Can you be more specific? What exactly are you looking to do?

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
What I've done in the past on a few LS swaps is run the main battery cable down to the starter. Then a heavy 6 gauge wire from the starter to the stud on the alternator. Then for a good 12 volt source a heavier gauge wire from the alternator to a isolated stud mounted where it best suited for the vehicle. Because I'm a bit paranoid I run an in-line fuse in that wire. I think it's a 40 amp maxi fuse.

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
My truck has a main fuse block (engine/tran), a body block (under the dash where my original was), and also a main +12v terminal underhood for anything that needs a 12v source.

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
I am looking to do away with the original splice on the front driver's side and add a junction block. I'm thinking about having the alt power wire run to a junction block. I was wondering what you all have done and if you all can upload pics.
thanks again, Joe. |

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
Not the wire from the starter to the alternator. The wire from the stud on the alternator to the isolated stud for 12 volt power I fuse that wire.

About 2/3 of the way through my build. I forgot the password to my Photobucket account haha. If I can get logged in I'll post them.

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
Maybe one of these firewall junction blocks to bring power into the cab?

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
I am thinking of going with two of these. one on the front left side where the old regulator used to be and hook up the alternator wire to it and the other on the firewall passenger side for other accessories.
If any of you have pics, please post them up, looking for ideas. thanks. |

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
Mine used to be on the inner fender. Now its the same terminal, but located sideways into the old mounting holes from the inner fender. I don't have a pic of that version atm.

Re: LS Swap front wiring / junction block
I used the under hood fuse/relay box from a 97 Ford explorer. Bought it from the junk yard with relays and fuses still in it and bolted it right in after wiring everything up. I'll snap a pic when I get home and post it. Super easy and makes forgetting which fuse and relay are for what not an issue.
