Steering Column Shift Loose

So I have a 67 C10 and bought an aftermarket Tilt Steering Column. The shifter has quite some play to it and doesnt quite line up perfectly with the shift position indicator. It shifts into gear and holds there but the column shifter has some wiggle to it. Not sure how else to describe it.

Its only the column that has the play. I will watch the trans shift linkage while someone maneuvers the shifter up and down and only the column moves.

Any ideas???
