How do I remove the wood from a panel truck floor?
49 panel truck. I want to remove the wood floor without damaging it. What's the procedure? Looks like even if I remove the innumerable bolts it's still trapped front and rear by metal runners.

Re: How do I remove the wood from a panel truck floor?
50 and later had a plywood floor with 5 metal strips and the bad news is, I believe the body was assembled on top of the flooring.. I could be wrong, I haven't spent much time under that end,,, yet..

Worse comes to worse, you can always cut/remove the lip of metal holding the floor in, take the wood out, then weld the lip back in. I have a '56 panel with a great floor- may consider doing the same thing

Re: How do I remove the wood from a panel truck floor?
The plywood floors are one solid sheet of 5 ply and are routed for the metal bands to sit into so getting the front and rear ends free is only half the battle, the sides of the body will still bolted/sitting on the outer edges..
If you are trying to save the plywood you only have two options, reverse assemble it or do a lot of bracing and lift the body.. |

I'll check, but I'm pretty sure that both of my 1/2 ton panels ('56 and '59) have separate wood planks.

all tf panels had plywood floors

Re: How do I remove the wood from a panel truck floor?
Couldn't one of the metal strips be removed in the center, a cut made in the wood to be hidden by that center strip, then you have two pieces that can be removed pulling them out from under the body?
