What are your plans for "next stage?"
Plans go out the window the first time you try to use them but here is my plan for spring now that winter season has come.
1). Put in thermostat. 2). Install new tune up kit (spark plugs, points, etc.). 3). Clean out side of garage to make room. Remove bench seat. 4). Remove gas tank and get that white powder inside checked out. 5). Reinstall gas tank and redo in-cab 3/8 inch line....install new fuel cut-off valve. 6). See if seat foam can be replaced and seat re-upholstered so I don't sit up so high. 7). Fix front side marker light ground issue. 8). Put hood back on, straight this time. 9). Check on getting front end properly lined up/shimmed. I may take the truck to a forum member that can do this, hire a local shop, or I might even fly a friend in from Montana who is experienced in this area for help. 10). Fix parking brake issue, get brakes in order. 11). Put front bumper back on. 12). Do any small things like front emblem, rear step license plate holder, etc. 13). Get insurance, get license, get inspection, new muffler... 14). DRIVE. Then comes cleaning out garage, renovating garage, and enjoying the earthly promised land of having a truck and a cleaned up garage. What are your plans come spring? |

Re: What are your plans for "next stage?"
My project has been stalled at the rolling rebuilt chassis with bare cab mounted stage for quite a few years. The hold-up has been my front fenders being a couple hours away to get ready for paint, which hasn't happened. Although I have doors mounted, the '67 doors I want to use are also with the fenders. I am finally going to be picking that stuff up first weekend I get the chance... soon! Once I have a way to dry-in the cab and engine compartment I can move forward, since truck isn't in a building. I really hope to build a carport for it, at least, sometime soon. All sheet metal has been striped to bare and in primer. I have all parts needed.
This is my next phase for Spring: a- Paint body parts as is with Hot Rod Flatz red oxide. Maybe a little massaging first b- Put glass in cab so I can mount steering column, wiring, gauges, seat c- Drop in engine/trans and hook everything up d- Run exhaust e- Make driveshaft f- Install front clip It is my main focus to get it running and moving under it's own power. I'll get the bed together and mounted, too, but I see that as not needed till ready for the road. I can do that anytime. My overall focus is to get the truck and it's major parts all sitting on one footprint, hopefully by next fall.

Re: What are your plans for "next stage?"
I plan to use my truck this weekend in our local Christmas parade and then let it rest until spring, at which point I hope to have all the parts I need for a drop spindle/disk brake swap.

Re: What are your plans for "next stage?"
Lots to do for my "next stage." That '69 I have has just been turned into a "drivable" truck very recently, but due to many unknowns, I have much work to do. First of all, keep it running. The last drive, the fuel system seemed to have forgotten how to deliver fuel to the big 396 and I had to be towed back to home. I have the usual things that happen to a truck that has sat for 7 years while waiting for time to be able to make it run. Electrical gremlins, dash lights, head lights, parking lights, emergency/parking brakes, disk brake conversion, etc etc.
I am most pleased about how the engine turned out, but due to not telling my engine builder (5 Years ago) the correct gear ratio (recently discovered a 3.07 limited slip was installed instead of the PO reported 3.73 posi) my cam is all wrong. Don't get me wrong, the truck still has good pickup and really nice RPM's at 70mph (2600), the engine cam installed specifies a 3.73 rear is mandatory for the engine torque curve. Soooo.... that means a cam change in the very near future as well. But after 7 years, it is (was) nice to finally be able to drive this beast, even if it was only for 12 miles.

Re: What are your plans for "next stage?"
Get these installed along with original under floor brace welded in. Also have an original tilt column to install. Headlite upgrade with relays. Planning on doing the long haul on Power Tour 2019 so what ever tweaking the truck needs will get done next summer.
