1955 duramax build
Hi every one i am trying to build a 55 chevy truck with a 2005 hd as doner. i was woundering if any one has done one or have a build thread of one. my biggest problem will be getting rad and intercooler in the front has any one used a different cooler or what have they done? seems like that will be my biggest problem. don't think there is room under the truck either any ideas would be great. thanks

Interesting page here http://www.dieselhub.com/tech/engine-dimensions.html It looks like you are looking a 30 inches length with accessories but no fan. By comparison a 350 with a long pump is 28.38 with no fan and a 454 is 30.5

The only thing I would worry about big time on a Duramax swap is will the frame handle the torque?

im not sure if you have a 55 1st or 2nd series....but we have a member on here that has a d-max in a 1st series...he did a sweet install...I think its 1stgenfan but photosucket got his pics held hostage...you can use the search feature above...put in duramax....and the click 47-59 section for search....

It will be heavy also, make sure your suspension can handle it. Also what trans? Alison trans is big too so floor mods also.

At 835 the Duramanx is right at 150 lbs heavier than a 454.
