Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
Hey guys,
I have been reading up, but haven’t seen the differences addressed. I’m putting a L83 in a 68 c10. I want to retain the vacuum pump. I am using a kwik performance power steering bracket w/high mount Sanden ac compressor. If I use dirty dingo motor mounts with the SBC frame stands, does it make a difference if I use the stands in the 6 cylinder position or the 8 cylinder position? Will it clear the vacuum pump? Will one position clear the stock truck oil pan on the crossmember? If I use dirty dingo motor mounts with squarebody frame stands with clamshells, on the 68 crossmember, the vacuum pump should clear, but will I still have to notch the crossmember if it’s not a squarebody crossmember? On the dirty dingo websight it says the vacuum pump won’t clear on 68 stock mounts, but doesn’t delineate between 8 cylinder or 6 cylinder position frame stands. It also says the vacuum pump will clear with on square bodies, but says you must notch the crossmember with the stock l83 oil pan. I also know ICT sells brackets too, but haven’t figured out if they can be mismatched around easily. Just seeing if anyone has used any of these combos? Thanks for the help all! Shawn

I didn’t think you could keep the vac pump with the power steering bracket? What’s your idea for fuel??

Re: Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
The kwik performance setup puts the power steering on the passenger side down low, and puts the Sanden compressor mount up higher. I’m not sure yet on the fuel system. I used the in tank fuel pump from a 92-94 s10 blazer with MFI and the corvette filter/regulator for my current 6.2 swap. It puts out 80 psi stock. I may do the same again with maybe an adjustable regulator. I’m just not sure yet. I don’t know if you HAVE to have a PWM Fuel pump.

Re: Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
I just had my programmer come by to turn off the VATS AGAIN! And he made it so the fuel pressure I currently have from my external pump works without a regulator.

Re: Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
Is it a PWM type fuel pump?

Re: Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
Doing the same with a LT1 L83 engine. Was told to wait till first of year for a whole bunch new products for the L83. That Kwik unit for $499 with power steering pump seems the best way to go without moving a whole bunch of items. Where are you getting your radiator from?

Re: Gen V LT L83 frame stand/Motor Mount question
Dirty Dingo rep pointed out that they have a disclaimer at the bottom of their L83 engine mounts that says you can't have the vacumn pump there because it will interfer with the motor mounts.

I'm glad to see he has taken this on full time! Lovin his new logo too, it reminds me of the Gran National experimental logo from the 80's. Anyone doing this swap NEEDS to subscribe to his channel and learn a bunch of stuff he has already figured out.

I can't remember what magazine did it, but they said to use Aeromotive's Phantom in-tank pump that is compatible with PWM to feed the LT's onboard high-pressure direct-injection pump. https://www.aeromotiveinc.com/produc...si-6-10-depth/ |
