High Rise Intake Edelbrock 7101
Being offered a high rise intake. Edelbrock 7101. My motor is completely rebuilt with new stock parts. Maybe 10k on it. I have a 650 Holley on it now. Can anyone tell me if this will be compatible as a “bolt on addition” Or will I need to do some other work on it to have the truck run decent? Runs excellent now. I do want to add hp, would this be a good piece to add?

I did look the part up. More curious if I can just add it and be done or if I’m going to have to buy more parts to make it functional

Re: High Rise Intake Edelbrock 7101
nothing is ever bolt on . . . .
and thats more a mid to upper end intake . to get upper power you loose a little lower end . . . and vise versa . our big heavy trucks need lower end and torque to get them rolling . good old saying : torque gets you rolling and horse power keeps you rolling .

Sounds like at this point it not a good addition. I truly just don’t know what works and what does

If your block is 86 or older then it will "bolt on", but like mentioned before it probably wouldn't benefit your stock engine very much. A 2701 would be a better choice.

Re: High Rise Intake Edelbrock 7101
Performer RPM is an excellent manifold, but not my first choice for a stock 350 rebuild. Plenum volume and runner cross section are both a bit on the large side for that application. You'll notice a slight decrease in off-idle torque compared to either the stock iron or Performer (2101) manifold, but possibly slightly more power in the mid-upper rpm ranges.
With stock internals, the stock iron unit is pretty tough to beat, but a 2101 Performer can give it a little bump in the midrange without sacrificing power down low. |
