Factory Console Bracket Question

Its been a long cold Winter and I am getting ready to install my buckets and console in the truck. I have an original under floor brace and am pretty much ready to go and then looking over the Console Mount diagram (pictured ) I see it shows the back screws just going into the floor but in " View B " it shows a bracket mounted to truck floor with rear console screw going into it. My question is, do I need that bracket or was it used on Blazers and "K" trucks and I don't need it ? In the pic of the floor I would assume the dimples in the centre of the floor near the rear are where the rear console screws go and I will also assume all trucks have them which will make the whole job a lot easier.

Re: Factory Console Bracket Question

The console on my '71 GMC Jimmy just screws into existing threaded holes in the floor. No ''Type B" bracket.
No idea there.
If you have a factory bench seat cab, you may need to drill these holes new, and back them up with nuts below the cab floor. IDK.

Re: Factory Console Bracket Question

No brackets ever present in my '69 or other trucks I've rescued consoles from. I don't recall if the one from a Blazer had brackets. Not sure if the dimples mark the correct locations, but a quick test fit should answer that. I'll see if I can find a picture in my file that may help.

Re: Factory Console Bracket Question

Here's the best picture I can find which shows the holes. My floor's too shiny for the picture to be of much help!

Yes, will drop console over dimple holes to start the install. Im fuguring if I get the console right t should make it someone easier to get the buckets in the right place.

Re: Factory Console Bracket Question

Here's a link that may answer your questions regarding correct locations. You should probably ignore my inputs. As I recall I was wrong on a couple points. Oh well, I was a lot younger.

Yes, thanks.. I have checked that thread out thoroughly 4 or 5 times. I'm all good to go it was that console bracket threw me off. I bought an original floor brace from a board member and he cut the floor out with the brace attached to it. I seperated the brace from the floor and using the floor piece I should be able to accurately figure where to drill the holes.

Re: Factory Console Bracket Question

My 71 k2500 has factory buckets/console and does not have a bracket either. I agree with Eric, I’ve only seen it in 73-up trucks.
