Transmission ID
The shifter retention kit pictured. The outer tin piece which should swivel underneath the two pins cannot turn. The pin actually tops out and when I go to spin it it won't get past little Nubs. Pretty sure I ordered the right part but wondering if I made a mistake. If anyone can tell me if the retention kit is different for different Muncie Transmissions I'd appreciate it. I've attached pictures of the transmission as well.

Sm465. If you're trying to put the retainer in dry, it will be difficult. Get it greasy and make it easy

You also have to push down on the shift lever while you are turning the retainer. LockDoc
