59 Chevy 3 on the tree linkage help

I have been searching online for pics or manual on how to fix my 3 speed linkage. The linkage came apart on the steering column and the shifter box (?) where it attaches just outside the firewall on the steering column. Can some please help me out and let me know how the linkage is connected to the gear box? I have attached 3 pictures

Thanks for any ones help. It only has 1st and reverse until I get it connected again so cant enjoy the ride

Bob

Yes. All the linkage is there and the top one is still attached. The bottom one just fell off and it needs to be attached - with something. I found a Remanned 3 speed transmission shifter box online and it looks like it comes with both arms/levers attached so I am thinking it is some kind of pressed bushing.

Re: 59 Chevy 3 on the tree linkage help

This is the reman I found online and I beleive it is the correct one but if all I need is a bushing of some sort would rather buy it that spend $70 plus $60 core charge and shipping for this one. There are also some rubber grommets on the top linkage that this reman doesn't look like it would come with and mine look like they are half disintegrated.

Re: 59 Chevy 3 on the tree linkage help

Can't help anymore except to say that the shiftier block is very easy to remove from the column. Perhaps you could remove it to get a closer look and ability to put it back together.

The rubber "grommet" serves to keep the dirt off the grease that's on the shaft as it does slide forward and backward through the block when selecting Reverse/low and 2nd/3rd.
