If I install a 4L60 transmission, can I still use the stock cross member in the stock location

Re: Trans question
You will need a new aftermarket cross member...
Plus...an aftermarket trans controller to run the trans... and of course a new driveshaft...

Re: Trans question
Kinda figured new drive shaft, the after market cross member wasn’t planning on I was thinking of the stock one that came with the trans and hadn’t thought about how to control it

Re: Trans question
4L60 is basically a slightly beefed up 700R4....
Check out a 200R4...will bolt in to standard trans mount location, uses same driveshaft and does not need a controller... If this truck will ever see towing or a decent amount of horsepower...suggest you go direct to a 4L80 E... If you go with 4L80E...it will require aftermarket crossmember, and controller and new driveshaft... 200R4 should be gone thru anyways...but its a decent trans...better in many respects to a 700R4...

Re: Trans question
Ok thanks for the info. My main reason for asking is I have a 94 that I was thinking of pulling the engine and trans out rebuilding and put in my 72

Re: Trans question
94 hey....is it TBI engine?
Watch those heads for cracks.... Small valves...and ports... That 700R4 might be ok if its beefed up...depends on who does the work...

Re: Trans question
You could do a full swap out...
Including the electronics etc if you wanted to keep the TBI... Best fuel tank to use is an S-10 with lump in tank...fit it across the rear of the truck where spare tire is now...

Re: Trans question
A '94 is a 4L60E not a 4L60. The transmission is electrically shifted and will need a controller.
Yes it will bolt the crossmember with the right mount. The crossmember will need to be moved back. the driveshaft will need to be shortened.
