Steering column length?

Wanting to put a tilt steering column in my 66. What length column are you guys using? Heard that a 32" should be about right. Or is it more personal preference.

Ididit standard is 35" and new rack & pinion version at 30"

The Ididit 1960-66 GM Truck Retro Series tilt column I run in my truck is 32" long from shaft end to end.

End of the housings end to end? or end of the shafts end to end?

I havnt ordered mine yet and the reason I asked is (as you know) ordering one they use these measurements (from Ididit):
