Back half question
Hi ladies and gents. Im working on my 65 c10 and had the bright idea to back half it. So I bought some 2x4 and got to welding. Anyways as life gets busy with work, family and my baby 65 c10, my attention cant always be spent on playing with my baby and the back half project got stretched out a little. I have an idea where its supposed to be but Before i start welding i just need someone to give me a measurement from behind the cab from the floor to the top of the rail and the very rear from the floor to the top of the frame rail. I have every other measurement but the one i need and want confirm before i tackle it and end up cursing and throwing my tools lol. I just cant seem to find it. If anybody can do me a solid id greatly appreciate it.
Almost forgot. 65 c10 swb Last edited by Zero Clearance; 09-28-2018 at 11:29 PM. |

Re: Back half question
For clarity you are looking for a underside of the truck floor to the top of the frame rail measurement?

Re: Back half question
Either. What i need to establish is the hight from the front of the bed and the back so when i put the bed back on it sits even in relation to the cab and front end. So lets say from the ground to the frame is 15" and the back is 19" from the floor, ill know theres a 4" incline and my bed will be even with the rest of the truck.

Re: Back half question
So leta say i put it back with only a 2" incline then itll look like my truck snapped with the rear sitting too low. And thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it

Re: Back half question
Look at the FAQ section. there are drawings of the frame rails. Cant really use ground to the frame. I built drag cars for a while and we used a frame jig made from I beam. Thar ensured it was all straight and level. Above all when doing chassis work having a reference for straight and level it important.

Re: Back half question
20" from the floor to the top of the frame at the back of the cab. 27.5" from the floor to the top of the frame at the back of the bed. There is a kick up after the cab and as said above ride height and rake play into this. If it were me I'd set the bed on jackstands at the height I want it and measure from there.
