1978 correct steering wheel?
I just got this '78 Sierra Classic. Somewhat new to squarebodys. The steering wheel looks like a newer style than 78? I've read this design was introduced in 79. What do you guys know?

During changeover of part changes, there will be old style & new style part on both years.

The wheel in my 78 High Sierra looks slightly different.

Re: 1978 correct steering wheel?
I have seen many of both steering wheels in a variety of trucks. I am going to say that the wheel in #1 is for a higher trim level (Silverado , Sierra Classic) and the lower trim levels (Cheyenne and High Sierra) get the wheel shown in 4.
However, wheels are easy enough to change and who knows what might have happened in the past 30+ years. |

Re: 1978 correct steering wheel?
The steering wheel in the picture is correct for 78. That was the first year for this style steering wheel in the upper trim levels.

Re: 1978 correct steering wheel?
Thanks, it looks to be a nice one with all the good stuff. What are your future plans? Do you have a build thread for the P10?

Re: 1978 correct steering wheel?
This is my plan for the GMC. Drop, sport mirrors, and whitewalls. No build thread on the P10 sorry. I'm mostly on FB group P10LIFESTYLE with that.
