help choosing mounts for my 1960 c10 LS swap
Hey! I'm looking for the best motor mount options for adding a LS (Gen IV Truck 5.3) into my 60 apache with a crossmember from 77 c10. There seems to be endless options but I can't find anything pertaining to my specific situation.
- I am planning on adding AC from vintage air - I want to do the least amount of fab work to get the motor to sit in the chassis - The motor will eventually be turboed so I'm not sure if I want to relocate the ac compressor up (I will if necessary though) Any specific mounts come to mind? I need both the mount on the engine as well as the arms that attach to the crossmember and frame. Thanks! |

Do you have the stock or the stock 77 motor perches?

Re: help choosing mounts for my 1960 c10 LS swap
I was thinking about the dingo sliders but they wont clear the low mount ac and I'm not sure if i want to relocate it up high due to the future turbo plans.
I currently have no motor perches, I need help in choosing those as well It's the lack of 60-62 that seems to make this hard. Seems like everyone swaps to a later frame or keeps their torsion bars with the LS swap. |

Re: help choosing mounts for my 1960 c10 LS swap
About the only motor mount brackets that fit close on the '60-'62 frames are the '67-'72 small block engine mount brackets. Those may need a 1/4" spacer on top of the frame. Unfortunately the '63-'72 engine mounts aren't very tough in a performance application. The '73+ engine mounts are much superior but the brackets will require either a sizeable spacer on top of the frame or cut and welded to fit.

I figured I was just overthinking it n ordered some weld in universal mounts.
Cheap and I should be able to put the motor exactly where I want. |

Re: help choosing mounts for my 1960 c10 LS swap
In my '60, I kept my torsion bar front suspension and used the '73 & up sbc engine perches that I had in place for my 383. When I swapped over to the 5.3, I kept those perches and used them along with these from ebay (p/n 14020A).
Everything bolted right up and slid right into place. |
