Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

I had bed liner sprayed on the treads on mine. The guy that sprayed them used a tape with a piece of wire to get a sharp line. The blip on the edge of the running board is an 'artifact' in my old cell phone's camera.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

Did they used to put tar on the wood? I wonder if it would look like that. Would be cool.

Those running boards look awesome!

Oh dear, makes it look like you have chips, spots, bird poop and bugs all over your truck! I like the way you just did the tread part.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

On my 41 Ford truck, I sprayed 2ea light wet coats of rocker shutz. Lightly sanded inbetween coats. Painted the running boards in body color and after 30 years the running boards still look great.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

The boards on E015475's truck look pretty decent.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

I had truck bed liner sprayed on the running boards of the black truck in my icon pic. It worked very well and went with the looks I was going for.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

I debated on whether to coat the whole running board or just the treads.

The shop that did said if I wanted a nice crisp line between the paint and the liner, they had a tape with a metal edge they could pull to make it nice.

I went with a coating only on the tread - I never saw the tape he used.

Not trying to hijack and I don’t own an AD but when Linex did the bedlining in my then-new 2008 Chevy 3500HD dually, they used that wire in the tape trick along the edges and it makes and absolute sharp line. And that stuff does NOT chip. Worked great.....right up til that truck burned to the ground due to a rat making a nest in the turbo piping 2 years ago. I still miss that truck. It looked like the day I bought it til the day it “died”

I REALLY like how the bed lining was masked as an insert but personally if I ever did this I’d ask that the bedliner “wrap” over the leading edge so it wouldn’t get scuffed. To the OP, it looks great. LOVE the sage greeen color.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

Thanks - I think - I wasn't the OP but was the only posting with a green truck.

My wife thinks she has the final call in all things design related and we'd had many discussions what color the truck was going to be.

We were driving together one day and she saw a car this color and said "that's a really small car but I sure like the color" It was the newer Fiat 500 green and I liked it too, so that's the color it was painted.

Re: Bedliner On Running Boards?

Not a 47-55.1 but you could do the same on the running boards.
I done my steps with tint-able raptor liner with a clear coat shot out of a paint gun. If you want a rougher finish just use the Schultz gun.
