Lower steering/pitman arm question
I installed the pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods and adjuster sleeves loosely.
Now I'm torquing everything down, everything was cool until it came to the pitman arm, so just a simple question...............should you torque down the pitman arm to the steering box from start? Does it matter?

Re: Lower steering/pitman arm question
Torque the pitman arm to the box first, then pitman arm to cross link....
Remember to use split pin (cotter pin) in any nuts that require them. Have fun ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Lower steering/pitman arm question
Makes sense, thank you. I may have torqued the pitman down first, but was waiting on a new split washer. Since it's all together, the entire steering linkage wanted to swing as I torqued down the pitman arm. I was concerned something might get jacked up. I just loosened all the nuts, jammed a pipe between the pitman and frame, torqued the pitman nut to 150 ft. lbs. and then tightened up the rest.
