250 Coolant Leak

Ok guys. Trying to get this thing fired back up for Power Tour. Recently pulled engine and replaced all gaskets. New water pump and radiator as well. Filled coolant and began dripping from timing cover oil pan interface. Water pump weep hole is not dripping and I can’t see where this leak originates. Leak began with approximately 2.25 gallons coolant in the system. Where should I start??

Check to see if coolant went into the oil pan? Pics would help.

Re: 250 Coolant Leak

I’ll grab some pictures tonight. I pulled the oil pan drain plug (oil not filled yet) and no coolant came out. So if it did get in the pan, it would not be a huge amount.

Sometimes a new water pump will catch on the timing cover. Ive had to grind the edge of the pump back a little several times to get them to clear.

That would be a good result, as opposed to maybe something cracked that turned out to be expensive.

Re: 250 Coolant Leak

100% mistake on my part. Pump came with two gaskets and I used the wrong one. It did not seal the hole for the 5th hole that connects to the pump connection. Seems to work!
