Source recommendations for "Front Hood Repair Panel - Lower" ?
Source recommendations for "Front Hood Repair Panel - Lower" ?
After stripping the hood for my '66, I've found rust perforation across almost the entire front lower lip. The rest of the hood is in pretty good shape, so I'm considering repairing this with a new "Front Hood Repair Panel - Lower". I'm seeing these on line from a number of different sources, ranging from $170 to $250. If you have successfully used one of these repair panels and can recommend a specific source or manufacturer based on quality and fit, I would certainly appreciate the information. Thanks! .

You'll get the post from some saying the patch panels all come from the same place, so the brand doesn't matter, but there's threads in these forums talking about obvious differences between brands. Heavier vs thinner metal along with quality of the stampings.
Here's one thread where some discuss Top Banana and TriPlus. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hlight=Triplus

The one issue you run into with the front repair panel is the lack of availability of the support panel that is behind it. I have talked to the guys at keystone about making that piece available since the make it for the complete hoods. I have a hood that needs the front done but the inner piece is as bad as the front.

I repced mine on my hood. I got it from a place called fixmyrust.com. It fit perfect. You can see process in my build thread.
