Leaks with Tanks Inc setup

So I primed my fuel system this weekend and I have two leaks. Has anyone ran into this issue?

I have a universal 16 gallon tank, in-tank GPA pump with Walbro 255, and the corvette filter/regulator with Russell hose and fittings all from Tanks Inc.

The first leak is from single fitting coming out of the regulator. From the research I've done, I may have messed up the o-ring when I pushed in the fitting. I didn't lube that fitting so I will see if I can pull it back out and take a look. I may have ruined the regulator because it's almost impossible to pull it back out without ruining the teeth (with the tools I have). Worst case, I buy a new regulator (probably go with Wix this time) and be more careful installing.

The second leak is somewhere at the pump. It looked like the supply and return fittings were leaking, so I tightened them a little bit but I was still getting some seeping and it almost looked like it was coming from where the pickup and return tubes penetrate the mounting plate. I used Permatex Aviation form-a-gasket on both sides of the cork gasket and anti-seize on the supply and return threads. I think the first thing I will try on this leak is to disconnect both lines, apply Permatex, and retighten and see what happens.

A few things that stand out before I head to bed. First thing I would change is the quick lock fittings on your filter, the plastic clip ones. They had an issue with them at one point and its never really been said on how great of fix they had for them.

Second thing is the fittings into the pump, are those fittings npt or orb and do you have the right one it it? The one fitting at the top of the picture looks like it only has about 2 threads into the pump, that leads me to think you have an npt fitting in a orb hole. Hard to tell from a picture though.

The last thing that stands out is the way the lines look like they are bound up / rubbing on the tank.

Also if you dont have a Wix regulator now I would upgrade to one, too many problems with off brands of this filter/regulator.

Everything came as a kit from Tanks Inc so I would assume that they use all the correct fittings. The supply and return on the pump are both threaded in a fair amount, but I'll check it tonight.

I have the same thought on there maybe being some side load on those same fittings. When I installed them, I rotated them as far down as possible for clearance but I'll look closer at it tonight.

I am going to take the filter off tonight and look at the o-ring but I'm pretty sure I'll ruin it taking it off and if so I am planning on ordering a Wix filter and this time lube things up.

Russel has the fittings that eliminates the plastic clips with screw in keepers that take place of the clips. It a whole new fitting though. On my filter, I slightly spread apart/ bent the feed and return. This will help those lines go on and off a lot easier. Also help the o-ring seal. Just my experience.

I'm going to give the plastic clips a shot. Right now, they're not leaking. We used the same fittings on my dad's and that was over a year ago and they're still working fine so I want to give them a chance to work as they should.

I did buy a new Wix filter today so I'll put that on tonight and see how it goes.

Update

Installed the Wix filter last night, fixed that leak. The Wix filter is definitely higher quality than the generic filter that came with the kit. The strap holds it nice and firm compared to the generic one which was pretty loose. But the best part was fixing the leak at this location.

We ended up hammering the tank in two spots so the 45 degree fittings didn't make contact and put any side load on the supply and return. Then we pressured up, still leaked from the supply. So we took the male/male fitting off and applied Permatex Aviation sealant, reinstalled, pressured up, still leaked (see picture). But we realized we were rushing the Permatex so we reapplied, let it set a few minutes, then installed. It has to sit at least 4 hours so we'll pressure it up tomorrow night and see what happens.

The two fittings on the tank need some sort of sealant that is gasoline resistant. I use yellow teflon tape being very careful not to wrap in on the end of the fittings. Turn them very tight - I don't care for aluminum fittings...seems they might strip easily. If the AN fitting is leaking, normally you can break it loose and re-tighten - do not use any sealant or tape on AN connections.
I would not rely on those plastic clips on the filter - I've read several issues about eventual leaks. As already mentioned, a style with an internal nut is available.
Potential gas leaks scare me.

Rectorseal 5 is the MVP - it stopped the leak!

I don't know why Tanks couldn't just put an AN fitting on the supply and return in the first place...

Doesn't look like there is room to turn that elbow fitting. Likely intended for straight fittings to keep it low profile.

No, you won't be able to turn that fitting. It has to be a straight fitting. Just use rectorseal 5 and you should be fine as far as taking care of any fitting leaks. Also go with a Wix filter instead of the generic filter that comes in the Tanks inc fuel line kit.
