Spare tire mount finished, finally
You guys may have seen my post on the in bed spare tire mount I fabricated.
Here is the finished product. I repourposed a locking gas cap and pressed the locking part into a chunk of aluminum and came up with a watertight locking cap to store whatever. At the moment, I just have a rag, pair of gloves and a flashlight .Anyway, it came out pretty good. Was going to paint it but I'm now just want to polish it out to a mirror finish. I can show pictures of the "guts" if any of you want ideas to fab your own. Anybody know why the pictures always flip? Last edited by DennisP; 02-12-2020 at 03:45 PM. |

Can I just spray a coat of clear-coat on it when it's done? or is there anything else I need to do to keep it from oxidizing and getting dull? |

Never-dull would be best for that piece. IMO. Here is a link. You can buy it online or at most stores that have auto cleaning stuff. Link:https://www.eagleone.com/nevr-dull-w...IJzw&gclsrc=ds .

Re: Spare tire mount finished, finally
This looks even better in person. Saw it this morning at the local donut shop. Nice Meeting you Dennis, you did a great job on the spare tire mount, and the rest of your truck looks nice as well.
