Base 71K10?
If you ordered a K10 in 71 how would the base truck come?
No options, but no delete of standard items (heat).

Re: Base 71K10?
Probably easier to describe what it doesn't come with - but, generally speaking, if no options were selected it would have:

Re: Base 71K10?
So are gmc different. Mine lists the am radio. Which would mean it's an option. Unless Ks are different from Cs like how all Ks got power breakes.

Spare tire would be mounted under the bed to. Not in the box. Right?

Re: Base 71K10?
As Jocko says:
C/K models- First year of Cheyenne / "Cheyenne Super"?? then: Custom XX deluxe followed by: Custom XX For what ever reason, I sold a 70 SWB C10 with four things on the spid. It wasn't a special order if I remember right.

Re: Base 71K10?
You know, I can swear I've seen radio delete on SPIDs, but - to your point, the AM radio DOES appear on the SPID, so I believe this may be bad gouge (i.e. it may be incorrect that AM radio is standard). Anyone else know for certain?

Re: Base 71K10?
RPO Z84 was available 67-72, first as a Custom Sport Truck (CST) and then, in 71, as the Cheyenne (although wording still appeared as Custom Sport Truck on some early transition SPIDs). Cheyenne Super (YE9) was first available in mid-71 model year, and was a "new" RPO, setting a 4th, highest level of trim. YE9 continued into the squarebody years and eventually became the Silverado in 75.

Re: Base 71K10?
Have you ever looked at the factory truck book that the dealers used. This link goes to the GM Heritage site. Pick the decade, pick Chevy trucks, your year.and be prepared to waste at least an hour. Obviously this isn't 100% accurate but non the less I find it fascinating.

The in-the-bed mount was RPO P13 and was extra cost. Rear bumper was also an option. Base was no rear bumper. There was even a "base" color. If you did not specify what color you wanted it came as one of tans IIRC. K

When I was a kid (born in 59) my dad was a car salesman at a Chrysler Plymouth and GMC truck dealership from the late 60s through the early 70's. I was more interested in the cool muscle cars from the 67-73 (ish) years when he was there. Every year when it was time to order his "demo" car we had fun seeing all the different options he could pick from. Im pretty sure he couldnt go any higher than the 383 hipo for an engine though, rats! I had zero interest in the truck side of things. Wish I would have been a truck guy back then considering where I am now.

Re: Base 71K10?
After reading about the AM radio discussion I thought that I would chime in. I bought a 1971 base C/10 two years ago. I'm pretty sure it was radio delete. Even though it did have an aftermarket radio in it there was a factory original radio delete plate the same color as the truck in the glove box. There is also no AM radio option on the SPID, however there is no radio delete on the SPID either.

Re: Base 71K10?
Yes - it was a 6 cyl with the three on the tree.
I pulled the three speed out and replaced it with a Saginaw four speed (which was the exact same size) and a floor mounted Hurst shifter. I mounted the Sun tach on the column where the shift handle was. K

Re: Base 71K10?
But the base spare tire is not listed on the SPID? If it were an option would it not be listed?

Re: Base 71K10?
Correct: base would be no spare, not listed on SPID.
Optional would be with a spare, and should show up on SPID. The 67-72 SPIDs I looked at show RR&SP (Rear and Spare) or FR RR&SP (Front, rear and space) codes. For a square body all of the tire options were listed, where: XAB = front tire option YAB = rear tire option ZAB = spare tire option This allowed you to buy different front tires from the rear tires and with another unique spare, if desired. Thanks Tim, yep believe that is correct since it has an RPO, added a note to my list above so nobody would gather that from the original post - appreciate the response!
