Guys I need Help , New To This

I swore I would never do another Frame Off build but I lied to myself . The last one I hired out from bottom to top .
This one is different and Im sort of doing it Backwards .
I bought a 70 Short Stepper a couple years ago that I have been after more than 25 years . It was a Plain Jane Stepper in Medium Blue I believe , one owner before me . The old fellow I bought it from finally decided I would do right by it and let me buy it . He know knows it will be done nice , his words .

I pulled the straight 6 and 3 speed out and gave them away . I then took the truck to Russ Cunningham in Knoxville Tennessee at RussBuilt Hotrods for rust repair and patina paint blend . Russ did a great job on the rust repair and paint blend .

Here is where I need the help . Once the truck came home , me and some friends took the body back off the frame . Im about to completely take the frame apart .
I already have drop spindles and drop springs for it as well as a Boyds Rear mount tank as its going to be LS Powered .

My question is where do I source all the new bushings for the control arms , trailing arms and any other hardware I may need , I have never done this before /

Also where is the best source for a complete Brake Line set ?
I have the brake booster and master cylinder from Frank on this forum .

Any info or pointers is much appreciated . Me and my friends are doing all of this build that we can .

Up to 72 I think have control arm grommets, where the the control arm shaft metal bushings screw in. Truck Shop in Orange, CA has them. Page 148 on their catalog. Page 147 has the entire assembly listed. http://www.truckandcarshop.com/6072.html

If you are using stock control arm I'd check with NAPA. Same for all the suspension parts.
If are running stock brakes there a number of vendors on this site that can supply brake lines and such.

Thanks for all replies so far , yes brakes will be stock for a 72 as Im going with power disc on front , stock trailing arms too .

MOOG has everything you need for OEM bushings and can be ordered online or bought at your local parts store. Not a place to cheap out so brand/reputation is important to me.

This is very good info for me , Thanks . This build is anything but a Budget build , I want it all right from the beginning . Im still tearing the frame down , got the front cross member out yesterday . Will get the rear end with trailing arms off today .

Then I will pressure wash the front cross member for complete disassembly . I will go into my junkyard and find better trailing arms as mine are pretty rusty in spots , not dangerous rusty but Im sure I have better ones .

I've found Summit Racing is many times 1/2 the cost on mane brand suspension pieces like bushings, BJ's, tie-rods, & related stuff. I was amazed when I hit my local Oreillys & the control arm shafts were over double the price vs. Summit. It might take a day or more to get what you need but when you're saving that much coin it's a nice option.

Disclaimer: I don't mind paying 'mark-up' to help keep a local business open. But when it's over 100%, it's no longer just that.

I buy local if competitive on price to a point but if its a major difference I dont . I have the frame and trailing arms stripped except for fuel and brake lines . Tomorrow I will have that done and it can go to the sandblaster and paint .
Then I will disassemble the front cross member to get those parts ready to go . While it is being blasted and painted I will look for all the parts I need .

Sometimes you can simply ask if they match online pricing for same/same items.

I can’t always support the locals but I sure try to. It’s hard to warranty stuff down the road from Amazon...

I just got all new MOOG front cross shafts (upper and lower) and a new set of MOOG front springs from RockAuto. They were a bit cheaper than Summit and WAY cheaper than anyone local. Ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, it's all out there from MOOG.

Waiting on my drop spindles and other parts right now. While I am waiting I am cleaning/painting the A arms and stuff. Also have another load of metal for my local scrapper but progress is slow. Here in AR it's hotter than a Stihl chainsaw at a pawn shop.

I know Rock Auto is a popular source but I defer back to the vendors that support the hobby & have a store-front vs. strictly warehousing/amazon type business.

Rock-Auto might be a few bucks cheaper but Summit Racing or Jegs is investing in our aftermarket automotive businesses. Just my perspective.

Rock-Auto got $200 from me and Summit got $800 on the same day so my conscious is clear.

No worries, just thought I'd let you know I spread my money around. Summit, Brothers, local parts stores, etc. Got a list for GMC Pauls when I build my C10 fund back up again.

Flashed - Brake line sets can be had at many resources. Check out GMCPauls in the vendor forum here. Them and Classic Heartbeat seem to have a ton of the stuff everyone needs.

Moog suspension and steering parts seem to be the consensus for the best you can get. I replaced all of mine with Moog about 5 years ago and have been happy with them. The only issue I have is the quality of the dust boots. Since replacement 5 yrs ago, there's maaaaybe 1000 miles on them and the truck sits in the garage a lot (not in the elements)....the boots are already cracked and split on the lower ball joints, not sure on the others. So I ordered poly boots from Prothane to replace all the other boots. We'll see how they stand up once I install them.
