1973 c-20

I've shared a couple of images of this truck in the Abandoned Squarebody Pictures there but here's one I bought off my Landlord for around 750$ in November last year.

A 1973, C-20 with a 350 and 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This one had been in possession by my Landlord since at least 2008 or so but it had been off the road since 2006. It was an Ex-Tree Service truck but the owner at the time died in 2006 and most of his equipment ended up at my Landlord's dump which included this truck.

From what I've dug up, this was once a Missouri truck as it was sold at Jim Robertson Chevrolet in Kirksville Missouri and according to the VIN tag it was assembled in Janesville Wisconsin.

The first time I've seen this truck was around 2009 off in the distance at my Landlord's dump but the first time I've seen it up close was around 2012. Fast forward to 2019, I wanted to try my head at doing a revival and after looking at numerous trucks I settled on this one, and here's how it looked when I seen it for the first time since 2012.

Not a pretty truck but it was something that I could build off of.

A couple of more photographs I've taken when it was still in the spot it sat in before we moved it.

Re: 1973 c-20

We learned that this truck at somepoint had both it's original transmission and motor replaced with another 4-Speed and 350.

It took us awhile to get this back to the house as it got stuck in a ditch and due to work and my Landlord forgetting about it we finally got it unstuck and me and my dad got to work in putting new tires on it so it can roll at least and we drug it out by tractor.

We tried getting it started but the starter that was in the truck was rusted all to hell so to speak. So we replaced it and surprisingly we got the truck started and it ran and idled well despite being off the road for a long time.

Looks like a nice solid start! What are your ultimate plans for it? Other than a few things it looks original.

It's going to be my daily driver.

I'm going to keep the flatbed as it's solid and looks pretty good on the truck. I'm also planning on eventually getting better sheet metal for the truck as some parts like the Rocker panels need to be replaced the same as the Fenders.

My biggest plans also have to do with the motor, while I'm on a budget I'm pretty excited to make some good modifications to it and make it a good enough sleeper.

Awesome! My very first square body was a '73 C-20. I'll enjoy watching you fix this old girl up.

Re: 1973 c-20

Right now me and my dad are now focusing on the fuel system. I had to buy a brand new Gas Tank along with a new Sending unit.

The original tank on that truck, it appears sitting as long as it has in a Field took a toll on it and the Sending unit was also junk at this point.
