Are you looking for original, or would you settle for aftermarket? Also, there's a thread on home fabricated ideas.

What transmission are you wanting to run? The factory crossmember was designed for the Powerglide which will also work for a short shaft TH350

I was leaning toward a factory one. I was able to get ahold of a set of factory side motor mounts so was just going to continue that way .
That being said I would not be completely opposed to an aftermarket one as long as I didn't have to utilize my degree from MIT to get a legit install completed. Btw, thats the McGyver Institute of Technology not the super smart guy one.

TH350 is going to be the transmission.

I have been trying to finish up reproduction auto trans crossmembers for the '60-'62 short wheelbase frames, but haven't been able to get them done. I do actually have a long wheelbase frame I could use for mockup. It depends on how big of a hurry you are in.

Not in a huge hurry at all. Im just on the parts gathering stage. What kind of a time frame where you looking at Cap?

I have no idea at this point. I need to get the short wheelbase crossmembers done first as I have someone that has been patiently waiting for a long time.

Also along my searching i ran across a guy that is looking for a shortbed automatic crossmember so once you get that one dialed in you might have someone else ready for one. Im sure the actual list is pretty long.

I'm not going to take any sort of deposit if that's what you mean. I have this thread marked and I'll try and keep you updated when I have some progress. I work 80hrs/7 days a week every week every month and I'll do the best I can. But I can not make any promises. Especially this time of year. If you find one somewhere else, you might want to consider that.

I am going to build some just drop of a factory crossmember of at my fab shop. Going to have them bend up a eight feet and laser the end caps for them. That way I can build long and short bed crossmembers. They are the same guys that made my rock guards I sale on the forum. They are busy so I don't no when I will have one done . Plus I want all of you to no I am not trying to take any work from captainfab he does great work.

ffkg.. whats the deference in the short bed vs long bed crossmember..

As far as I know the longbed crossmember is longer due to the difference in the frame compared to the shortbed.
I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable members on here could give you a more accurate explaination, that's just my understanding.

I know the long box one will fit in a short box frame.. i used a 3/4 longbox crossmember on my short box.. Any idea what a longbox crossmember sells for..
