64 drivers door lock

so my key turns in the cylinder but wont unlock the door. i have the door apart and dont see how the cylinder would connect to the latch or linkage to unlock it. its just got the post sticking out touching the lever for the door release. does anyone have a picture that they could post so i can see what im missing ?? thanks

Re: 64 drivers door lock

It might be that you have the inside door handle pushed too far counter clockwise. If it is all the way in that direction it will prevent the door form opening ever if unlocked.

Re: 64 drivers door lock

On these old door handles, the exterior lock is completely divorced from the latch in that it is only the button that actually locks. The inside handle however locks the internal mechanism when you push the handle forward. Sometimes on my truck the inside handle will throw the lock accidentally like Forrest said when I shut the door.
