TMI Bench seat-Any user feedback?
I have decided to retain the bench seat in my 85. However, I need to upgrade it and make it more comfortable.
I have heard that the 88-98 seats are a little thinner and offer more leg room. I'm looking for (locally) a 88-98 seat that I can have reupholstered. I want the seat to have better back and side support so new foam will be required. I also want it done in leather. Cost is not a factor. Alternately, looking at the TMI website they make seats like what I'm looking for. The 73-87 and 88-98 seats have the same part number so obviously only the brackets are different. However, they do recline which may help the comfort issue. My current seat just makes me feel like I'm sitting against a wall. Has anyone used or have a TMI bench seat? Is it worth the money (quality, comfort, durability, etc.). They look good, but that doesn't say much. |

Re: TMI Bench seat-Any user feedback?
I have the TMI bench and I absolutely love it.
Backstory - I did not like the bouncy ride and poor support of the stock bench. I purchased the bucket seats from shop4seats.com. They were terrible, not comfortable and too thick for the cab space. I ditched them after about a month. I went back to the stock bench seat, but this time I "rebuilt" it with new foam and a new seat upholstery. It looked nice, but the new foam was not really any better than the stock foam (just thicker). I finally spent the money to buy a TMI bench and its great. I've logged a couple years and probably a few thousand miles on mine. Its great. Supportive, comfortable and the backs are thin enough where you have room between you and the steering wheel. The bracket they sell is ok - sort of pricey for what it is and the holes don't line up exactly to the floor of the cab. I made it work however after some modifications. I highly recommends the TMI seat. The middle "hump" of the seat is probably really only good for kids though, I could not see an adult wanting to ride there for a long time. |

88-94 seats cant realy be recovered easily the fabric is glued to the seat foam. But 95 to 98 can be recoverd easily.
