1961 Apache "Uncle Wilbers Truck"
So my great uncle Wilber was my dad's uncle. He was the black sheep. All the rest of his brothers were farmers and ranchers. Uncle wilber moved to town (Spokane Washington) and hung out in bars and the horse race track and drove a pink Cadillac. He was cool. And my dad was his favorite nephew cause he's cool too.
Wilbers 1961 3/4 ton apache got parked in my grandparents pasture. Not sure what year but it was before 1972, the year I was born. Not sure why either. It was sunk to the axles and us kids broke all the windows out. I wish I knew what I know now. Wilber passed away oh pry been almost 20 years now. So long story short my son Kolbe who was 14 or so at the time managed to get it out with a tractor and got it to may parents house. We've collected some parts over the years but a month or 2 ago I found a 61 short bed in Montana. It's missing the bed and most of the interior. It's a factory black cab which is cool. Its got I think a 63 or 64 grill and hood on it. I've got most of Wilbers truck and I'm for sure using his grill and hood. Possibly his doors, tho I really like the black ones. I picked up another 60 c10 today. Another long bed. Its got a title, we couldn't find Wilbers, and an engine that spins nice with a 4 on the floor. We traded the 292 out of the truck years ago for a v8. It went into something else. Anyway I'm rambling. The point is I've finally got enough parts and pieces to start putting his truck together, with my dad and my 2 sons and daughter too. I'm going to and take pics and post about it on my page on FB, DMC Square Body and Egg Farm. And I'll document it on here too. Thanks Last edited by Evkev; 03-29-2021 at 01:36 AM. |
