1986 C3500 Save

A Family friend said he was having this towed to the junkyard and I could get the overdrive unit out of it and anything else I wanted.....yeah....She's coming home with me to stay! I just couldn't let her go.....She's in too good of shape and 92,000 miles on it! 6.2 that's been rebuilt and never fired off. SM465 4 speed with the Gear Vendors OD unit In-between. Never owned a diesel and I'm considering doing a swap after I get it here. Not a dent or rust through anywhere....just some surface rust. For $200.....I'm doing a lil' dance....

Re: 1986 C3500 Save

Nice truck especially for the price!!!

you should see if you can get the 6.2 going. They are pretty simple and get good millage. Biggest issues are glow plugs not working and air in flue lines... Course a small or BBC. Will fall in.

they are kinda fun with a turbo...

They just stopped in the last few months so I’m sure some new ones are still out there. You can pick up a used one for a reasonable price

Re: 1986 C3500 Save

Wow! Nice!!!

Did you get the hood for it too?

I'd be jealous except I have no use for a 2wd dually.

Re: 1986 C3500 Save

What a great grab! So glad it didn't end up getting scrapped. That rig is way overqualified for anything I have going on, but I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat. If you discover any more orphans, just let me know, I'm only a boat ride away, haha.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
