Fiberglass Fenders
Saw these fiberglass 73-80 fenders on Ebay. Wonder if anyone has ever gone this route.

That's the route I'm going with mine. Glass hood and fenders and maybe bumper too.

Yep I have thought about it. I have thought about it a LOT. THere isn't a straight pannel left on my 75 Jimmy trail truck. I though about putting fiberglass skins on a tube frame set up like a pre runner. When I go wheel just leave the fenders home.
Here is a update kit on a 74.

http://www.mkparker.com/goose/ http://www.hannemannfiberglass.com/index.html has the conversion parts. I think they will sell a conversion kit. I think you can buy with or without a core suport depending on how your building the truck. http://glassworksunlimited.com/gu56.shtml also has a kit. There is another company that I can't find the URL for that sell a kit as well. That truck will look like this with the skins off. Makes working on the engine a breeze. you can sit on the tire and change spark plugs. I want to do something like this BAD. Pre runner is useless here in Atlanta but I don't care I want a truck like that for a DD.

Grim ask mike what you call a DD prerunner.. thats if you have a paid membership to CK5......... i thought about the flared fiberglass fenders for our trucks.... but seeing as how my truck is pretty beat up.. i decided not to spend that kind of cash and if i go with bigger tires i will get a small lift and hack the fenders off... the white 74 use to be my back ground. i used quite a few pics from mikes site on my webpage.... still cant believe he sold it.....

Just out of curiosity and a wee bit off topic, but why does glassworks say their fenders will fit 74-87...why wouldn't they fit 73?

Yeah I hate Mike sold that. I really enjoyed his posts over there.
People need to follow the link off that page about the gray one with the funky paint. I know you have read it 82 but it's a good read for those that haven't. That truck is amazing. They have $185k into that thing. It is a full blown race truck with A/C. They talk about the test drive on Off-Road. They didn't have time to go out to the desert so they did some urban pre running. They were punning through parking lots a 60mph over parking ties. They they found a loading dock and were jumping the truck off that. Can you imagine driving you truck off the 4ft tall wall at 60mph? That's what that truck can do.
