Looking for tires for my 57
I am looking for tires for my 57. I am going for the staggered look with 20x8 and 20x10 Riddler wheels. I do have the step bed rubbed for wider tires in the rear. What is a good tire size for the front and rear? The truck is dropped 5in in the front and rear. Would love some suggestions.

Re: Looking for tires for my 57
one thing to consider for tire size is what you plan to do with the truck and what you have for an engine/trans/differential gear ratio combo. then consider the width of the wheel and the backspace you have along with the space available inside the wheel tub area. maybe even get the truck levelled up on stands, remove the current wheels on the truck, mount your bare new wheels and then use a straight edge across the beads of the wheels to see where your wheels fit in relation to your sheet metal. then you will have an idea of tire width you can put in that wheel opening without the tire rubbing. a short tire with an non overdrive trans and a high numbers gear ratio will have your engine screaming at 70 mph.
here is a wheel size calculator that you can punch in some numbers and see how different size tires will fit into your wheel tub area https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ here is a tire size comparison calculator that also has info for tire sizes, widths and common sizes. you can compare a couple of different tires visually and if you scroll down you can see the tabs for wheel sizes etc https://tiresize.com/calculator/ here is an rpm calculator where you punch in your info and it will give you the unknown number. http://www.advanced-ev.com/Calculators/TireSize/ personally I have an overdrive trans and 3.73 axle ratio. I am using a 28.1" tall, 9.3" wide tire with a 5.3" sidewall. 235/60r17. I am not a fan of the really short sidewall due to the jarring effect that has on the dental work, haha. mine will be a daily driver, not a tire smoking fire breathing truck, the tires will have some decent sidewall profiles so they will absorb some of the road shock but also be big enough to allow some ok/average cornering etc as well. I am a pretty relaxed driver so not too much canyon carving for me, plus I will likely tow my boat occasionally |

Re: Looking for tires for my 57
I running a 4.8 with a 4l60e trans with 373 rear end gears. . I’m thinking of running 245/35/20 and 285/30/20. Not set on those sizes yet that why I’m asking what others are running.

so, at 75 mph you will be turning 2500 rpm. thats seems reasonable.

Re: Looking for tires for my 57
245-35-20 should be 26-3/4 inches tall. That isn't too bad height wise. Depending on the wheel offset, ride height and suspension width the width might be in tight corners when it comes to turning corners though. That has always been a battle when you have a low truck and start running wide wheels and tires on the front.

Re: Looking for tires for my 57
you could try a tire shop or a classified ad site for some used tires to install and do some preliminary checks for rubbing. mount them on the wheels, do a full suspension run through with the steering turned all the way and see if they rub. these are not a real common size that I know of, except for beamers, mercedes etc, so you don't wanna go spend money on special tires just to find out they are not gonna work. or maybe just buy a single of each size and do the checks.

Re: Looking for tires for my 57
He isn't in the best town to want to deal with tire shops. At least it wasn't when I was statoned at Fort Hood nor in the years I lived in McGregor 40 miles away.
That is why he really needs the "this is what I have on mine with big wheels" photos an info. I don't have anything as to me a big diameter wheel on a TF is 16 inches and a low profile tire is a 60 series. I just can't do the donk wheels on an AD truck. The steelies like Yongrodder had on his truck and Joedoe runs are presentable on AD trucks though. Mainly because they don't make the truck look like the background for a rim add.
