Need Some Side Mirror Advice

Yes, I searched. I know there are a thousand different truck mirrors out there. I would like to replace the "stock" mirrors with something that actually works, but covers up the holes that will be left when I remove the old ones. I have the small ones held on with 3 screws currently. Does anyone sell a mirror that covers that up in some way?

If you've got the small round mirrors, then one option would be to keep your stock mirror arms and replace just the mirror heads with some larger ones like these.

I am running the round mirrors and yes they are very difficult to see anything out of.
Even the adjustment is very particular. Thanks for the link pjmoreland as I may have to try them out.

I would like to hear from owner of original round mirrors. I am wondering if they are curved at all.
I replaced my passenger side mirror on my 2000 Silverado with one from Ebay.
The field of view was complete different. I suspect the replacement glass was flat.
Just wondering out-loud if the same difference between OEM and aftermarket exists on our C10's as it did on my Silverado.

Mine are rectangular, but I think they're smaller than the one you linked. I'll have to measure them. The driver's side isn't too bad, but the right side is useless. Part of the issue is that I'm not tall, so the angle is just way off.

Thank you so much for this. This looks exactly like what I was thinking about. Is that foot big enough to cover the 3 holes left by the "sport" mirrors?

I do not think the earlier mirror mounting will completely cover the sport mirror screw hole pattern. If you do not want to patch and paint. Maybe just go to a bigger DG4 or D29 (painted style) mirror and use button head screws and nuts to plug the original holes, screws could be painted or not. Just another suggestion.

Has anyone used 73-79 ford mirrors? I was looking at the brackets, and it would be easy to fab up a new upper bracket to cover the existing holes.

I have mirrors on my '69 C-10 like the ones posted . Got them at LMC . They've always been quite shaky going down the road . Maybe it's just my old truck ? Thanks !

I had the LMC/Classic style mirrors on my daily driver Burban for several years. I found them to vibrate a lot at speed. Then one of them got full of water and when the water froze the glass cracked.
I replaced them with a set from NAPA. They are made of heavier material and the backs have more shape to make them more rigid to reduce vibration. For more details see post 831 in the link. I am much happier with the NAPA mirrors.

In Jan of 2022 the Napa mirror was $35.
Now they are $50 with 20% off. That would make them $40.

IDK if these are stock, came on my 72 when I got it a few months ago

Both give good view...but given the cab is all windows, for me, I don't need anything bigger

if youre looking for something to cover up the holes before you weld them up for paint, i used some plastic push on buttons from the hardware store

works for now, if and when i restore the body, ive got a set of doors anyway

This is what my truck has too, and the passenger side is useless for me. And aesthetically, I just think these trucks look better with bigger mirrors. But I'm not really going for the "sport truck" vibe with my chunky tires and long bed. I like both, but not what I want this build to be. I'm lean toward the Ford ones right now.

For now, I found a $9.00 solution. I still don't like the "sport" mirrors, but I want a mirror that will cover up the holes. While I come up with solution that looks like it belongs on a truck, this works great.

I know this is going to go against what everybody else is saying but here’s my two cents.
When I bought my truck, it came with the big White “Elephant Ear” mirrors.
For many year I want the fancy “Sport” mirrors, because they looked so good on the the trucks that I saw in shows and magazines.
So, I went and bought some Sport Mirrors and installed them in accordance with Factory measurements.
The first time I was out in Freeway traffic, I realized what a mistake I had made.
I gave it time, and made adjustments in the way I had to mitigate the blind spots from the little mirrors. I was gonna tough it out for “the Look”, but after I had the second mirror head loosened and fell off, I pulled them off and went back to the “Elephant Ears”.
Sexy looking? Matter of opinion.
Functional? Absolutely

My '69 C 10 came with the white 'elephant ear' mirrors . I took them off a long time ago because I thought they were ugly . After trying to back up with a load of limbs/yard waste at the landfill I wanted them back . Sadly I lost track of them . Still haven't bought the NAPA mirror , but it's on my list . Thanks !
