Who all has done this mod? is it still holding up? reviews on amazon aren't very reassuring

I used jeep fronts, but wasn't happy with the reduced "opening," so I ended up removing the rubber stopper. Happy with how it works.

Had some issues with the factory roll pins not staying put, so I've changed them to a screw and nyloc nut. Might be a #10 or #12 or 1/4" or whatever fit.

Truck has zero miles, and hasn't even run yet.

They worked perfectly, but I removed them as it reduced the door opening too much for my liking.

I put ones from the front door of a Jeep on my 63. I cut the rubber bumper into three even pieces, then reinstalled everything with one of those slices. I believe the door opens to just about what the factory ones do, and there's still a little cushion for the checks to bounce on.

They work so much better and I absolutely love not having the door close on the back of my legs anymore.

I was able to source two original ones from a junkyard Jeep, so I have no experience with the aftermarket ones

I cut my rubber bumpers in half. Opens up to about normal... I'd be interested to see how much the doors open with it completely removed or cut into thirds.

With no bumper, I believe there is plenty of room before the door could the cowl.

I cut them in half at first, tested, and then just removed them.

Woody came without a door check on the drivers side so doing the Jeep upgrade was a no brainier for me here in the UK as couldn’t get an original.

As others have said, if you leave the original rubber stopper in place the doors don’t open very wide, I cut mine in half as others have done, but have now taken the rubber out entirely, works fine.

What year Jeep do you need to look for to get the correct stops? And is a Jeep Wrangler?

I did this with mine. It was so long ago that I forgot if I used ones from a cherokee or a grand cherokee. It matters. I also had to do a little grinding on the rod. But I don't remember why. There are a couple of threads on here that give a good explanation of what you need exactly. Just do a advanced search.

It's been a while, but I believe the rear door checks are longer then the front ones. I know I have a set somewhere. Where, well who knows.

Here’s my DIY on Jeep door checks. If you slice the rubber piece in half (or more) you can get the door to open the normal amount.
