New LMC in cab fuel tank
I just bought a new tank from LMC and it seems to be powder coated grey. I know that the original tanks were galvanized and I don't want the filler tube sticking out of the cab and be grey. Suggestions as to painting the filler tube are welcome.

Re: New LMC in cab fuel tank
It appears that a section of my original 1970 C/10's gas tank neck was painted black from the factory. I wish I had painted the new Spectra tank's neck before installing it. Here are some pics of my original tank being compared to a couple tanks I purchased before installing the Spectra. Ignore the angle and diameter of the aftermarket tank necks, those are two other issues I encountered when replacing my in-cab tank.

Re: New LMC in cab fuel tank
Most steel gas tanks were/are plated with terne.

Re: New LMC in cab fuel tank
Most if not all aftermarket tanks have a longer filler neck. I'm going to paint mine the same hugger orange as the body. You could match it to your paint with rattle can paint from the vendors who color match. I have a local shop that matches the hugger dead on and it's been great for interior touchups. Just an idea. If I recall correctly most of the aftermarket tank necks are about an inch longer.

I would think painting it black like the rubber grommet would match better and hide better. This will be against the grommet and not the paint color of the truck. |
