6" rear drop coils questions I need advice
I have been running 4" drop coils on the rear of my 64 Fleetside for the last 2 years, and I always wished that it was a tad lower
I recently replaced my rear tires (245/45/18) (26.7" tall) with 255/55/18 tires which are 2.3 inches taller at (29.0" tall) This raised the rear rake considerably, it's too high for my liking. I already have a small c notch, and the shock relocation brackets and drop shocks installed. It seems that I have 2 options, 6" drop coils, or air ride, any opinions? Has anyone used 6" drop coils in the rear, any problems?? |

if you got the money put it on bags. i did a coil drop for now until i get to spend the money for bags. i believe coils will be a smoother ride where bags would be more bouncy and rigid is my understanding. I like how they look parked laying flat on the ground

now that i think about it...im not sure. i did a static drop without a c-notch. didnt have to. so im wondering if i did a 6 or just a 3" id have to look for the receipt. or ill try to measure the springs to get a better idea. ill get back to you to you and let you know. just swapped out an alternator and am blazing hot out here...

Air springs (bags) will ride just as good as coil springs can when used @ their recommended air pressure for a given height. Too little of air pressure might set it lower but it will be a bouncy ride. Too much pressure will ride higher & firmer. The need is to source the right size & type of bag/air spring for the specific application.

I tired them once with no c notch. Just like having no springs at all. Immediately returned them and got 4 inchers.

I have the 6" springs in the rear and 2" drop spindles and 2" springs in the front. I'm happy with the stance.

Why not just add lowering blocks? They are made in 1", 1.5" or 2"

I agree here since you have larger diameter wheels which help negate the scrubline downside w/the taller T/A drop blocks.
