recomend me a radiator
i have a 1972 k20 with a 350 sbc motor. the truck has a/c and auto transmission. the previous owner did not upgrade the cooling system when he made modifications to the truck. so i have some cooling issues. im looking for a heavy duty radiator since i live in the desert. we average 115 -118 most summer days. i found two options for similar price and want to know the best option.
option #1 new copper 4 core radiator from local auto store. option#2 two core aluminum radiator with 1.25 inch tubes. both options will have the built in oil cooler lines. also anybody know of a good 7 blade fan with at least 2 1/2 inch pitch for a severe duty clutch? |

Re: recomend me a radiator
I vote copper 4 core radiator from local auto store, if it's one with metal tanks. If it has plastic tanks then never mind and go for the 2 row aluminum one, but make sure it is all-weld construction and has a lifetime warranty such as Engineered Cooling Products. I suggest buy an original fan blade from for-sale listings here on the parts section of the forum, or join with a premium membership and post a want-to-buy ad. That's what I would do. Some vendors such as Manes Truck Parts and Outback Truck Parts sell used parts and you can call them and check, that's another option.

Re: recomend me a radiator
Radiator express has an aluminum 4 core, I’m sure that will do the trick.

Re: recomend me a radiator
I redid my original 3 row rad that had the 4 row tanks that was in my Factory 350 with A/C truck and made it into a 4 row rad. I don't have to deal with the the temps you do though. If I hadn't done that I probably would have got one from Cold Case Rads. There are a few board members that are quite happy with Champion Brand Aluminum Radiators. Pictured is my refurbished rad. https://www.coldcaseradiators.com/?p=login

Re: recomend me a radiator
fewer, but larger, cores are better than more smaller
look into Cold Case 2 row with 1 1/4 or 1 1/2" row. They make a nice radiator for not high $ |

Re: recomend me a radiator
I've got an aluminum one from summit racing, live in the hot California climate and it works great. Looks good too. I have had some no name brand aluminum types that didn't work well, ran hot etc.

Re: recomend me a radiator
Already Gone I did mine like you did. A local radiator shop did the 4 core pinched tube also added a stacked core tranny cooler in the radiator where the original cooler line was.

Re: recomend me a radiator
Now that trans cooler would have been great to do if I had thought about it.
